Time:  the whole of China has the same time zone: GMT+8 hours.

Language:  the official language is Mandarin Chinese, local people speak Guilin dialect.

Currency:  Renminbi (RMB), also known as Yuan (Y) or Kwai.
 Notes issued:  500 RMB, 100 RMB, 50 RMB, 10 RMB, 5 RMB, 2 RMB.
                       1 RMB.  5 jiao, 2 jiao, 1 jiao.
 Coins issued: 1 RMB, 5 jiao, 1 jiao  5 fen, 2 fen, 1 fen.

 Please kindly be noted that 5 jiao and 5 Yuan are difficult to tell apart.

 Banking Hours:  Monday to Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm.

National Holidays:
 
China observes 3 main holidays. They are the spring festival or Chinese New Year (which normally falls in Jan or Feb), the Labor day holiday (may 1 to may 3) and the national day holiday (Oct 1 to Oct 7). These are the golden holiday weeks in China. When to go: best time to visit Guilin is Autumn or Spring ( April, May, Sep, Oct and Nov)
